How to Become a Utah Notary:

Compared to other states, Utah has few eligibility requirements to become a notary. The process is simple and affordable. Click here to view the eligibility requirements for becoming a notary in Utah.

To become a notary in Utah, follow the steps listed below:

  1. Order a four-year, $5,000 Utah notary bond.

The Office of the Lieutenant Governor requires the notary bond to protect the public from a notary’s errors. Sign, scan, and save your notary bond as a PDF file. You will need to upload it when completing the notary application on the lieutenant governor’s website.  Click here to purchase a notary bond.

  2. Take the oath of office.

The oath of office is attached to your notary bond and must be administered by a notary public.  Scan and save your notarized oath of office as a PDF file. You will need to upload it when completing the notary application on the lieutenant governor’s website.

  3. Study for the test.

Study for the notary test by reading the Study Guide, Notary Code, and any other information listed on the Office of the Utah Lieutenant Governor’s website.

  4. Create an account on the Office of the Utah Lieutenant Governor’s website.

Complete a notary application on the Office of the Utah Lieutenant Governor’s website, take the test, pay the $95 testing and administrative fee, and upload your executed notary bond and notarized oath of office.

  5. Purchase a notary stamp.

Once your application is approved, the Office of the Utah Lieutenant Governor will email you your certificate of authority, which you will need to present to a notary stamp vendor along with the notarized declaration (printed on your certificate of authority) in order to obtain a notary stamp.

All our Utah notary stamps and seals are made in house and come with a lifetime warranty. No questions asked! We will ship your notary supplies once we receive a copy of your Utah notary certificate of authority with a notarized declaration. Click here to order a Utah notary package that includes your notary bond and notary supplies.
